Class enrollment: The class has an application process.

This class is unlike most other classes. The grade is entirely dependent on a quarter long project that is evaluated over the quarter. This will (hopefully) be a project that you can brag about to potential employers, family, and friends.

Enrollment is by instructor permission only so that I can ensure that students are ready to take this class. Enrollment will be in the range of 20-30 students. To apply to enroll in this class, you must fill out the CSE 145 Application Form.

The primary goal of the application is to ensure that students will be successful in the class. A successful student has a good mix of initiative, problem solving ability, creativity, teamwork, and project management skills.  Have a look at the past projects to get a better idea about the expectations for what you are expected to accomplish over the quarter.

If you want to have preferential consideration, you should submit your application by February 17, 2023. I will decide on the initial batch of students by February 24, 2023. After that applications will be accepted until all the slots are taken.

The applications are judged based on how prepared you are to handle these projects. Therefore, those that have experience and previous work in your potential project domain will be ranked higher. Students who have done initial work to find a project (or even better have started working on the project) are more likely to be accepted into the class.
