Tikal is the largest of the ancient ruined cities of the Maya civilization. It is located in Guatemala, close to the Belize border. I took a day trip there during my 2007 spring break trip to Belize. It is an amazing place, with large number of huge temples and many more that have yet to be excavated. A bit a trivia: Tikal was used as background scenery of the Rebel base on Yavin 4 in the film Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope.
