This was taken August 20, 2006 – the summer after I obtained tenure. It was a summer with a lot of travel, a 3 month post-tenure vacation, if you will. I spent a little over 2 weeks in South Africa, including about 10 days on safari. Cape buffalo are quite mean fellows, so you don’t want to cross them. So in this case, the foot picture more due to the fact that I couldn’t go stand next to one without getting gored.
